Default What would be your base figure if you were doing IDW designed characters?

    Hi all.
I'm sucker for anything remotely resembling the designes seen in IDW comics, but some of those thing are so complex, with Drift as the exception, it seems Hasbro/Takara has shied away from attempting them. But if any of you were to take up the challenge what existing figures would you use as a basis (80% or more of) if you were to do a custom of:

Sentinel Prime as he appeared in Megatron Origins:

Hmm there seems to be a slight difference in his look. I could be wrong but I think I see a lot of Ultra-class Universe Countdown figure at least in the legs and few other parts. Does anyone else?

    Nova Prime:

I know it does not look exactly the same but I think in some of later look after he came back from the Dead Universe as Nemesis Prime, his head looked a lot like the Japanese Big Convoy's/Universe Nemesis Prime vs. 1's.

and last but not least - MEGATRON 3.0:

that was seen last year. wow I think I see, possibly some Gundam parts here and there.

    What are your thoughts fellas?

Some of those look like parts of titaniums, movie and classics parts.

Funny you should bring this up, I was scouting base figures a couple months ago for Nova and Sentinel, and Liege and Nominus Prime as well. I was focused mostly on ultra class and leader sized, from Cybertron and Universe lines, with all of the detail work built from styrene. Most of the designs of the IDW characters are very distinct, but bear some resemblence to Classics and Cybertron lines.

ForNova Prime I would totally use Supreme Cybertron Starscream for the lower legs, and look into some Gundam kits for the wings, body, etc.

IDW stuff reeks of Gundam to me, not a bad thing either.....

IF I were to create one of those figures I would probably build one from the ground up with styrene and some hinge and ball joints so I could keep it as acurate as possible.
I dont think I would use any particular base figure.
It would take longer to create but would definately be worth it in the end IMO.
