The demo had me laughing and interested but Brutal Legend turned out to be my dream game. I LOVE metal and I'm a Tenacious D fan too. This game screams Metal in every way. The music is metal, the graphics and artwork are metal, the weapons and vehicles are even metal. Jack Black voices the main character and there are lots of other metal music voices too such as Ozzy, Lita Ford, Lemmy, and actor Tim Curry.
BL starts off a regular God of War type hacker game with its own original elements. Before you know it you are in an open world with your own badass car you can summon at will to get around. Plenty of fun missions to do to level up and upgrade just about everything. Right when you settle in to the fun, the game becomes a Real Time Strategy game too! Some say the controls are complicated in this part but I had no problem at all and I'm no game master.
After loving the journey and story through a hellish metal world, I tried the multiplayer RTS battles with 3 teams to choose from (Like Starcraft but simplified and you are in the battle). It's a blast!

Just got this yesterday from gamefly. While I am a heavy metal and rock fan, I just can't seem to get into this game. Maybe it's the annoyance of Jack Black's personality every 5 seconds, or the repeatative mobs over and over again, or the lack of a health bar.

lemme just rephrase; this game is a piece of shit. Jack black needs to stay off my xbox.

Last battle is stupidly difficult, not a challenging difficult, a stupid difficult.

In certain battles, you control armies. they are virtually impossible to control to the degree you need them, wander off, etc.

POS game.

Haha I'm actually a fan of Tenacious D and a lot of Jack Black's stuff. I read that some people were having trouble getting used to the controls in big battles but I loved it. In fact I dominated online for a while too until I got tired of how the teams seem a bit unbalanced. My record was 30somethin wins and 7 losses.
I still have to say this was one of my top 3 favs of last year.

Since my PS3 got sent back repaired but with a new empty hard drive I'll probably play through it again one day.
