This idea just sort of popped into my head in the middle of the night in bed.
Jetfire is now younger, stands upright, and has his G1 Autobot theme!
Actually took a lot of work to alter his knees so he can stand up straight and proud.
I did a good bit of cutting and sculpting on his head and lower face too.
Sorry I didn't get his jet mode perfectly together. It was frustrating me enough to want blood.

While I think that the G1 color scheme just can't look good on this mold, you've done an awesome job painting in everything so cleanly. Kudos for that. :)

Well originally I thought the colors couldn't look good on him myself, but the idea was to make him stand straight up, mod his cane to be a gun similar to the G1 toy, and take some age out of his face. That done, I felt the colors would work well for robot mode even if he looked like an odd colored Blackbird.
At any rate, I wanted the ROTF figure to scream JETFIRE at a glance, not ELDERBOT. I think I pulled that off.

To me, even a great paint job like this can't save this bayformer! Your paint is great but the fig is really bad. its a uphill battle with this.
Great execution.

I think you did a great job accomplishing your concept. I'd maybe hit it with a bit of dullcote to justify the paint scheme in a real world scenario. It could have been a "military air show" paint scheme, like the Blue Angels or something.
The cane to gun is great!
I like the cane/gun a lot too, how did you get it to look so cool?

Why, I'm glad you asked that Nick.
I had to cut the G1 Ramjet missile I used to make the rifle clip on attachment in a way where it could attach sideways to the landing gear. Otherwise the gun would have been bent, since the cane isn't straight. The entire side of the part had to be cut where it fit onto the cane snugly with the edge of the wheels exposed a bit on the side. I hoped that would also make it look a bit more complex too.

I thought about spraying it with dull coat, but then I figured I should stay true to the G1 thing all the way and make him shiny like the old toy so he was sprayed in gloss coat.

I am surprised nobody did this sooner, I really like how you turned the cane into his g1 esque gun. This really saved my view and hatred for M Bay for making him a bumbling old man! Kudos!

There was a sr-71 type aircraft that was black and silver. so it is not completely insain to paint one red and white. Anyways he looks great face looks strange to me white but that is just the way it is black may have looked weird to. He would have had a white hat lol.

cool glad you like the pics i googled up. They were kinda a bitch to find, because i did not know it was not called a SR-71. Also dont worry about the face on my account it is just a weird one to work with.
