Transformers: G1 Cartoon Style ROTF Optimus Prime

Here's my first contribution to the forum :D

Since almost everyone had already done great customs with Leader Prime, I decided to try a cartoonish look for him instead.

Prime was airbrushed with matt enamels, then clear coated with dullcote lacquer. I handpainted some of the shadows on his face and some other small details here and there.

For the ultimate cartoon look, I airbrushed shadows and reflections all over him, using stills from the movie and artwork by Don Figueroa as reference. In fact, if you look at some of the reflections of the truck mode and the trailer, they're taken straight from the movie! (check the part when Prime rolls over Thrust ;) )

I also removed some parts of his chest, this left the white part visible and made it more G1-ish (the idea is to look like the grill section on his torso)

Last but not least, the trailer!
I was lucky enough to find the perfect match looking around the car models section, at my local toy store. The trailer is from a 1:32 Kenworth model.

That is just SICK!!! Am I mistaken, or did the removal of those chest parts leave a gap in vehicle mode?

Looks like there is a slight gap,but I don't mind,that is a great Prime custom man.

Damn I wish Hasbro would do something nearly as cool as this cause then I'd be inclined to buy more RoTF figures.

I really like this idea. I just think a little more gray on the feet would look better. That is why I did it when I did my cartoon prime a few months back.

I love the cell-shaded look to that alt mode. It's perfect! :)

As for the 'bot mode, I agree with encline. Some more detailing would help. There are too many molded details and panels everywhere to be painted in a straight-up G1 scheme. :)
