I've had a few customers from Ebay ask me to do commissions, and one guy from Deviantart.
The guy who runs the local import toys and anime shop here had me do a custom G1 style huge ROTF Devastator and I did it for pretty cheap because he said he'd display it in his store and pass out my business cards. Still, I'd literally work 10 hours a day on customs if I had that much work.
Can you super awesome individuals of supreme justice and knowledge supply me forth with more grand ideas for getting more commissions?

I had two come from Radicons (same person) and another one from ebay. I did some for my brother (for free) but I think he might send another client my way.

I guess I'm doing all I can do within my limits for getting commissions.

Your on the right track, I've got a couple marvel figures at comic shops, and I get some attention from it. Also post your work here and a other fan sites and let it be known you accept commission work. Ebay is hit or miss with the item you are selling, BUT you do get worldwide exposure. Make it known you accept commissions there too. Also don't overlook collaborations and subcontracts with other customizers. I do quite a bit of electronics work for other "high ranking" customizers. It strengthens your name being attached to their quality work. Collaborations are also tons of fun too! Myspace, Youtube, Deviantart, facebook are all good outlets as well.

I'd say just time, and just having your name out there attached to good work. Post images on as many action figure, fan and toy boards as you can 'cause they have a good chance of showing up in searches. If you don't have a website yet get one- so people have a good clear channel to check out what you do
Danielle's due in about a month which is gonna shut us down for a bit. I may have some commissions I could direct your way- i'll keep you posted. We've got a couple weeks yet where we're gonna be trying to get to as many commission requests as we can just to build up the baby fund, but we'll have to turn down quite a few holiday jobs. What all are you willing to work on?

Definitely send work my way. I won't disappoint any customers you send to me.
I feel bad about even living when I don't have work to do and I usually put in a good 6 to 10 hours a day on custom work. I'm still making more money than when I had a day job but you know... staying busy makes it harder for friends and family to judge me for this being my job!
I have a Deviantart page with hundreds of pieces of work and assloads of watchers. Would you say that's enough for a website? I have no idea how to make one if not.
