Anyone have any tips on chroming something? I have a commission for 5 Hall of Heros Vipers repainted as Ally Vipers. Buyer wants a leader, meaning a gold faceplate. HoH vipers have the chromed face plate, any ideas about keeping it chrome without just painting gold over it?

Tamiya Clear Yellow.
I wish I could remember where I saw it, but that was how someone got a metailc yellow for Iron Man. They painted him with silver, then the clear yellow.

Coolest. Trick. Ever.

I've used the Tamiya clear colors over silver paint for a nice colored metallic surface quite a few times. Here's an Iron Man that I did using yellow and red:

Thanks guys! I wouldn't have thought about using Tamiya clear yellow at all.

Holy cow, that stuff is expensive. It's awesome and I'd love to use it but the part I'm spraying is so small I don't think it would be worth the 40 I'd have to throw down. Definitely something I'm going to keep in mind though. Thanks for telling me about it.

I use it on big commissions like my Ghostbusters Proton Packs, use it as an undercoat then I seal it and spray a flat black over it,once the black chips it gives it an insane look.
