Thought this would be a simpler way for the new customizers to introduce themselves. So, if you're a new guy, you can great the gang here. That is, if the admins are OK with it. :please:

Hello everyone!
I just discovered this forum thanks to xaviercal (don't know if this is his username here, too ) anyway, I just wanted to introduce myself, I'm a customizer from Chile. I've been customizing figures since the Beast Wars era (I was just a kid back then, but I've always loved painting models and toys!).
Well.. I'm really bad at introductions, just wanted to say hi before posting around here!

Well finally made it here fellas. Recieved and invite and finally got off work enough time to sign up.
Little about me...I have been customizing and painting Transformers for a little over 13 years now. Just recently in the last 2 years started customizing GIJOE, TMNTs, and random video game figures.
Good to see some new names I haven't had the pleasure to talk to yet,Hello. And some fellow customizers from other sites, good to see you again.
Well I am not great at introductions, and I have some commisions I have to get to, and hopefully I will get to the pics up on here soon.

I know squat about any of this stuff, but I'm trying to learn. Maybe someday I'll have something finished that I can be proud of showing. Here's hoping!

Hey guys, I'm The Deej. I'm trying to get into the customizing business, so I figured it would be a good idea to come here and learn. I stick to Transformers, though I wouldn't mind getting into making video game figures if I ever get the proper skills and funds.

Hey guys. Good ole NP here. Some of you know me & others don't.
For those that don't I've been Customizing Transformers for about 2 years (give or take).
I guess I'd be best known (at least in the TF community) for my Beast Wars: Animated line of customs.
My Animated Dinobot & Megatron have placed me @ TFCon's 3d art contest. 2 years in a row.
I've also been running my own YT channel for (almost) the last year. Posting tricks/tips & how to's, I've learned along the way.
As well as featuring customs I thought have been kickass.

Hello all, names Dave. I run Trigate creations. We make and sell cast original sculpts for the 3 3/4 lines of figures. We do sculkpt work, molding and cast work. I also customize but not as much as I like. The mold and cast work take up most of my time.
Would love to know what you guys might need transformer wise that you cant get at retail anymore.
Also to the 3 3/4 guys, any suggestions for product are more then welcome.
Right now our store is down, we are changing some things around, but it will be up soon to showcase some of our products.
Thanks

But I do know of a lot of you guys (and I help as an admin at Sector70, so I know a good chunk of you guys from there and Radicons).
Just thought I'd join in and share some of my work here also and keep the love for the hobby going. Hope to share some stuff soon and check out the place when I have more time.

Howdy all, I'm new to the boards here, am a novice (rookie?) repainter, with only two real projects to date (a trailer for Cyb. Armorhide & my G1 Optimus into 'The Kitty Truck')... I'd seen a few threads (the charity auctions) over on the Radicons boards and thought to check it out, but it was Anovasinn's sale thread (of all things) that finally got me to sign up for an account here!
I hope to learn a lot from you all, and will turn to the boards here for advice on a few projects I'd like to try and tackle next... See you around!

Hello.
I'm not new to customizing; this account is a collaborative between my brother and I. I'm actually known as AF @ thefwoosh.com.
I used to customize Marvel Legends into DC characters (I grew up on DC comics, and this was before the DCU figures were made). My brother and I both are out of a job, and so to pass the time we've decided to pick up on a fav pastime of mine: customizing. We are here to customize Star Wars figures.
So, if you see me posting something, don't think I'm a noob. Because I'm not.

Hi, i'm a collector of transformers and i'm actually quite a noob in customising...mainly in Transformers...have done and sold a couple...but mainly for the love and fun of kitbashing/repaints....i'm starting to look into LEDs and un-yellowing the toy...
Looking forward to learning tons from the great artists here!!
sorry for the amateurish intro..

After seeing countless Jin, Sabrina and Frenzy repaints and bashes over the last few years I decided that my TF collecting hobby would turn into a customizing hobby. You just cannot get that G1 look that you want without doing it right yourself.
I look forward to scouring the forums for paint recommendations and tutorials, tricks about creating and inserting points of articulation, and for borrowing ideas in terms of what figures to steal parts from.
None of my creations will likely be for sale ever, as I will be doing this only for myself. I am hopeful that because of my desire for perfection and patience in this type of thing... I will produce some good stuff after a while.
Expect to hear me clamoring around asking about what situations (if any) require air brushing instead of hand brushing, what skills/experience level should I be looking to master before switching from acrylics to enamels... and of course random thinning/mixing/blending questions.
Look forward to learning from you all, Cheers.

Hey, new to this site. Been customizing for a little over 7yrs now. Took a long break and am making a strong effort at a comeback. Used to be a regular at Spawn, Unreal Spawn, fwoosh, figures, etc. I am currently re-working my site and updating info, as well as my customs galleries. You can see my work (or what I have up at the moment) at www.rosedalecustoms.webs.com
Once I get everything squared away a little better, I will start a more involved thread of my work here.
P.S. looks like a really cool place!

Crabeq showed me where this place was for help and hints. So far, I've only done mostly repainting with minor alterations, though I am getting mroe ambitious. But hey, isn't that what it's all about? Starting small and building up your skill level?

Hi All! been around the action figure markets for years, have seen some of the best figures from customizers! have done quite a few myself, mainly into custom die-cast now. hope to learn new things here!! Scott
Hi there,
Found this site through Rumble_Frenzy's site and am just a big fan of this type of work. Don't really do any customs myself (unless you count a half dog chewed Moss-Man I "repaired" when I was 9) but love to see the processes and the finshed products.
A lot of talent on this board and I've barely had time to look around.

I'm Mr.Sci-Fi and am an all around artist and customizer, I've done a few pieces here and there but am getting back into customizing figures once again. It all started years back when I got my first lead based D&D miniatures and my brothers and I started painting and modifying them to better meet our characters.

Whut up. I followed CustomCreator here and thought I'd hang around for a while. I'm a freelance artist, live in the UK, don't eat chicken, addicted to caffiene. Been modifying figures since I was a kid, but I didn't get seriously into customizing until Marvel Legends came out. My background's in graphic design & illustration, but customizing's helped me branch out into areas like sculpting & painting.

I have been customizing for about a little over a year now, and mostly stick to GI Joe, though I have done some others. I keep my customs at stronoxcustoms.blogspot.com if any want to have a look. Hey! I already posted a painting tutorial in the tutorial section before I saw this thread, but I thought I'd check in anyway. The name's Mike D. I've worked in just about every style including GI Joe, Star Wars, Super Heros, Transformers, Sci Fi, Fantasy, etc. and in just about every scale. Recently I've been pretty focused on 1/18 scale Marvel figures. After years of respectfully turning away requests for commissions (I've always had a "customs are for me" mentality) I have recently decided to take the plunge into the world of professional customizing and decided to join this forum. I'm glad to be among such great talent and I look forward to checking the new posts every day.

Hello all! Heard about this site from StarWarsgeek and a few others and decided to hang out. Not sure if the "pro" status applies ot my stuff but I am hooked on customizing action figures. I work mainly with 25th/me/ROC Gi Joes, with a few other things thrown in. Hey all
As Zartanman said I see alot of names i know as well as a lot of new ones.
I started customizing in high school I painted some toybiz marvel figures to resemble some superheroes i was writing about. I then went on to collecting and painting resin kits as well as playing warhammer 40k. I was also a part of a online wrestling community called pwshaft where i customized a bunch of the members characters out of jakks wrestlers. A few years ago I decided my sigma Zartan needed some dreadnoks so i started customizing Sigmas almost 2 years later i am now catching the 3 3/4 bug
you can see most of my stuff here

I hope to learn more and continue to grow as a customizer

Hi, guys. I'm new here, though I've been posting for a few days already. I'm doing customs because I think it'd be a great way to actually do something that I love that will benefit my family, also. I'm trying to move away from incessant gaming and movies that have sucked up way too much of my spare time. I finally became aware that I had buried some talents that I should be using. Especially my artistic skills and creative mind. I think that revamping my workspace for my business will also encourage me to do other 'to do list' items around the house. Many of the tools I am acquiring for my business can also be used for those projects around the house (or at least that's what I tell myself). Also, in the past, my workspace has been more of a dumping area for stuff, so that even going into the room was depressing. It was so bad that I'd have trouble finding even the simplest tool when I needed one. I have to give credit to Encline for inspiring me to get into this business. I happened to be browsing youtube on day and found his Warzone Grimlock (or Battlezone? I always get the name wrong). Needless to say, it blew my freakin' mind!!! I couldn't stop thinkin' about how cool it would be to have one, more so, to make one myself. So here I am.
Some of my loves are my XBOX 360 (RPGs, mostly), Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, travel, backpacking, Japanese stuff, exotic foods, and of course Tranformers(!). I've been around for a while so I remember all the G1 cartoons and toys when they first came out. Ahhhh...those were the days.

I am a decent star wars customizer, nothing spectacular but decent (mostly part swaps and head swaps/ repaints etc) I recently bought some green stuff and started sculpting into figures, will be posting my first sculpted figure soon. I like big superheros like the hulk, wendigo, sasquatch, rhino, pitt, maxx. I also really like werewolves, characters like beastman, snake eyes and stormshadow, and sigma six gi joes are awesome toys.. Thats it in a nutshell, I am a toy whore..

Hey guys, should have done this when I signed up but I've been lurking for a few weeks now. I have a tendancy to ramble so feel free to give up now. It'll also probubly save you from my horrid spelling. Wonderful Dyslexia has blessed me well.
Really feel like I'm learning some stuff from here... which was my reason for joining really. I go through phases of hobbies and thanks to accidentaly stumbling across Warbot Defender and the Shadow Warriors online my TF habit resurficed after a few years of lying dormant. This turned into curiosity about giving them a paintjob. After crusing the boards I remembered some of Frenzy_Rumble's work that I'd seen a while ago and his trail led here. I now plan too steal his brain or just kidnap him or something. I'll probubly settle for trying to do a pale imitation of some of his techniques.
Some stuff about me I supose. I live in Scotland. Was born here but havn't lived here for most of my life. I just return every so often, it does feel like home but I seem to be alergic to the place. Hayfever and rubbish weather. Mainly grew up in Gibraltar. My Dad was with the forces so we did move about alot. This leads me to sound rather odd. My accent changes depending on who I talk too and I pick them up really fast. I try not too do it as I feel like people will think I'm mocking them... but it's not easy.
Bit of a jack of all trades. I've had alot of varied jobs and I'm pretty handy at most trades from electrical to joinery. My dad also was a Scotish Jujitsu champion way back them they invented the wheel or whatever. He forced me into martial arts from a young age. Hated it for years being that I was a real clumsy kid. Wasn't till I was in my mid teens that my body finaly decided that it had had enough beatings and decided to work properly. Needless to Martial Arts are alot more fun when your on the other side of an ass kicking. I even went to Beijing to train when I hit 19. Became a huge part of my life for the wrong reasons untill I reached a moment of clarity. I now do my best to be a martial pasifict. In fact I've not traned in anything more than fitness for about three years now.
Of corse I'm really just waiting for the zombie apocolypse so I can use my skills for good ;) (thanks to my dad I was also entered in sharpshooting compititions since I was 8. Was always better at that.)
Of my various jobs the most aplicable to customizing would be my work as an Antiques restorator. Actualy liked that job but it was short lived due to lack of work. Right now I'm an Ambulance Technition. Definaly my most furfilling job even though it is packed with stress and drama. It's like a less qualified paramedic but more rapid responce. I get a Honda ST1100 and a green jump suit. Mainly deal with cardiac arrests but also more serious stuff where a quick responce is a real issue. I do love making a diffrence but I'm notoriously hard on myself, which isn't the best in this job. The shifts are a bit weird so my social life has been suffering since I started. Gives me time for other things like customizing though.
Enough babbling though. Stuff more relivent... Collected Transformers since I was a kid sort of died off in the mid ninties and didn't rediscover them untill the 2000s when nostalgia kicked in when I found some Knock offs in china. I was also into Warhammer 40K as a kid and occasionaly am tempted by some new modles. They are probubly the biggest factor in my improvement in painting although I am planning on trying the switch from Acryllic to Enamles for some of my TF customes I have planned. Although I'll be sticking with what I know for the first prototypes till I get it down. I'll get some pictures of my work in progress up as soon as I figure out if my plans are posoble.
Thanks for reading. I shall shut up for the moment ;)

Sounds like an interesting life, Steel. I loved hearing your story. It wasn't too long. I'm in the same boat as you, as far as, I hope that I can just make a pale imitation of some of the absolute masterpieces that I've seen on this site. I, too, am a jack of all trades with particular stress on the "ace of none." I come from a family where all of the guys are that way, from my grandfather on. He was a tank commander in WWII, and a cook, he owned a monument business after the war that he ran out of his home (that is, he made anything out of granite or marble, such as tombstones, communion tables, and plaques). He and my grandmother, later on, built their lake cabin all by themselves, including digging the well, etc. Good to hear from anyone outside the US. Especially, Scotland. I'd like to travel there some day. I've always admired the Scotch/Irish and Australian dudes for carrying the "no whiners" torch that I think more men should aspire to. Later. :)

Thanks for the welcome Desertscorpion, Your grandad sounds like an intresting fellow. My great grandad was in the trenches of WW1 and my grandfather on the other side was in the navy in WW2. His boat was sunk, there is suposedly a book about it somewhere but we were sort of estranged from my dad's side of the family so I never got too ask him more before he dies. Shame really. I did get something from that side of the family that I do know about. I'm the Great, great, great X20 or something grandson of Allan Stewart. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alan_Breck_Stewart
Who is kinda famous in Scotish history... and has been portrayed in books, films and TV series.
We DENINATLY have the no whiners polocy amoungst the men in our family. Although I have a tendancy to boast about the utter ridiculus things that have happened to me (including encountering Russian Maffia and some low rung Triads.... and an actual tiger.) I'm sure my Dad would admit that I've finaly taken over him in tales of dodging the grim reaper. I've been told I should write a book but even I dont beleave some of the more insane stuff thats happened to me.
I do think that my Dad believed that by now we would all be living like Mad Max and had to train me acordingly. Thanks Dad!

Since I saw some stuff about grandfathers and their interesting jobs, I would include my grandfather Jack McQuaig, he did some really great works of art, his job was building cemetary gates, that being said he was a master stone/brick mason, iron worker and blacksmith. I am a tradesman myself, I am an elevator constructor, well starting my 3rd year and having worked in the trade for 4yrs. I was layed off in May due to a shortage of work but I am doing ok, have a great network of people around me and a family that believes in me. I have no problems picking up work here and there, maintaining a strong work ethic and taking pride in the work I do, I can only hope to make a great achievement as my grandfather has done, but I have an internal drive that is second to none. I find that customs give me an oppertunity to express myself creatively, and have always had an artistic touch, I am one who lives by the rule, you get out what you give in!, simple as that..

Well I've been around for a few weeks, and I've enjoyed the advice and comments on my work.
Names Travis, got me a full household of Transformer fans...love art but have not drawn in years...but have enjoyed painting transformers. Starting to get adventerous with my customs now by filling in and using other weapons and what nots (kitbashing), and trying to make some money at it for the first time.
I'm a big fan of transformers, zoids, gundam, robotech and dragonball z and tons of other anime.
Thanks for all your advice so far everyone, and as stated in other post all of your works are amazing and inspirations for others to create as well.

Ok my turn. My name is Matt, I'm not really a new guy but felt I should say a little bit about myself.
First and foremost, I am a husband and father. My wife and I both work full time so my customizing is primarily done at night and on weekends. I most certainly don't get enough time with my boy.
I have always loved Transformers and G.I. Joe. What got me into customizing started as a joke really. The wife bought me an 07' movie Ironhide I hadn't even seen the movie. So a couple quick google searches later and I found Seibertron, then TFW. Then I saw Jin and F_R's work and said to myself "I wanna do that"!
I work in a body shop which is pretty awesome cuz most of my painting supplies are free...sorta lol!
I like old school horror and sci-fi. I'm talkin pre 1965 the cheesier the better.
I like traditional style hot rods and pretty much everything that Ed Roth ever built.
I'm into the whole greaser sub culture.
Music is pretty much everything. Elvis to Iced Earth, R&B ect.
I assume everyone is lying to me lol!

Hey guys, I've been lurking here for a while now, so I thought its about time I introduced myself.
My name is Robbie, I'm quite new to customizing, so I dont really have anything to show. I discovered some of frenzyrumbles customs a few years back, and his work inspired me and gave me a mega urge to do my own. Now finally, I've started actually doing something about it, I'm gonna get my chops up with some repaints before I delve into kitbashing, but I am hoping to reach a standard where I can go pro, at least part time.
I'm a mega transformers fan, so that'll be the focus of my work.
I live with my girlfriend, daughter and fluffy new tibetan terrier. Until the beginning of this year I was a pro game designer, until I was stitched up...I mean made redundant. I'm still working away on my own games, but nothing thats gonna pay the bills yet.
Anyway, I've probably droned on enough, so I'll wind this intro up. :)

Totally missed this thread when I first came.
I feel unworthy to post here until I get my custom finished but it seems to be taking forever because of work.
Anyway I'm a fan of a couple guys here and I've picked up some good tips here so here is where I am :)

Now I have a couple of completed customs to my name I should really post something here.
I'm James, or Jimster by night, and I've been hooked on the whole transformers customisation scene for over a year now. I bought my son 24 minicons for last year's advent calendar, ended up playing with them and coming across TFW2005. A glimpse of Mech0y's Predaking had me riffling through the Radicons section for days, and eventually I made it here after seeing some remarkable customs by the PCs. So I've been lurking around for a while, not saying much, while I develop a technique and getting some pieces together.
My only problem is finding the time to put a backlog of ideas into action. After a day's work, playing with the kids, quality time with the wife, etc., my customising time starts around 10-11pm, which invariably means I've been getting around 4 hours sleep recently :S
Being UK based I also find that it's difficult obtaining decent fodder for bashing. I also hate wasting anything, so I can't bring myself to kill a TF just for, say, his thighs - I'll end up scratch-building or using construction toys for the required parts instead.
So where am I up to in my kitbashing career...?
I started with Robot Heroes figures - IDW Shockwave, The Wreckers - all sculpted from scratch. Even won one of the TFW prizes for my Boombox (not that the prize ever arrived - I should really chase that up).
Moved on to movie concept art (TF3 Wrecker and Shockwave, TF2 Seeker Model-T) while working on some Hearts of Steel seekers.
And now I'm going to the other extreme... from scout class to supreme size... but more on that soon ;)
I've also started to (try and) sell some customs. I'll post in the ebay showcase but any tips would be greatly appreciated ;)
What's up guys im new here, my name is bkz. Some of you may know me from another site, for those who don't here's a little backround. I started customizing in the 90's (yeah before the internet...lol) I can't really back it up cause I only took pictures of contests entries for toyfare back then and my pictures sucked so I threw them out (probably the reason I was never in the magazine!) but did save one from a 99' WWF contest that I will post in the appropriate place. I stopped customizing in 99' and totally forgot about it mainly cause I was the only customizer I knew. I didn't start customizing again until I saw how many people were doing it on the internet (around 06"). I really was impressed with a legend named TFMASTER (R.I.P.) and while I never knew him, because of the work he did I completed 6 alternators and a few other transformers. I mainly like to work on articulated action figures more, though I do like doing a transformer or two :-)! I signed up here mainly because I want to be a part of this site, share my work where I know it will be appreciated, and make a few friends along the way.

Hi! I'm new here, but I've been a fan of a lot of the member's work for a while and always enjoy seeing new customs - espcially Transformers and Joe stuff.
I got registered a little while ago, but just saw this thread recently and thought I'd say "hello."
I haven't done a whole lot of custom work yet, but I love the tutorials and am looking forward to learning quite a bit more. I look forward to posting and hearing all of your critiques and advice!

Same thing happened to me when I came here... be warned though, TF are THE most addicting thing one can customize or kitbash... Seriously...
Welcome aboard though... Cant wait to see what you come up with!

I joined this site so one day I could possibly show some of my customs! I have a bumblebee I have painted and a ROTC screen accurate megatron that's almost done but I'm just waiting till I can get enough money for a good cameraD: only one I have is my iPod and that camera is insufficient compared to all these pros! I joined because of the inspiring work from encline and frenzy rumble, now I see there's even more people to idolize!

welcome aboard man!
and dude, i don't have awesome photo-taking skills, and I get by with a cheaper camera. A couple of years ago, I actually bought a $500 DSRL camera, and the pictures were worse, and I couldn't figure out why.
YOu should def. post your work. If anything, ask about backdrops/lighting in the general discussion. And always have your camera on a tripod with a 2+ second delay when taking pics. At least that's my advice.

The camera on my iPod Deosnt have a display and I have never see a tripod for it! The only thing I've posted so far is my Dollarama devestator(not a custom) and if you go look, picture quality is not exactly that fantastic... I might have a better camera but I have no working computer so I can't uploadD:

Hello all.
I've been signed up and lurking around this site for a while now and thought I would introduce myself.
I've been customizing for several years though the last year I have been on a hiatus of sorts while sorting out some family and work issues.
I work mostly with comic book figures and old 80's stuff like MotU as well as video game characters though I do plan on trying some Transformer customizing in the near future as well.
