For the last PC contest I made this 3¾" Tekken Devil Jin figure. What still bugs me (no offence) is the very little response it's gotten on the various boards. But after putting it on eBay, I really got a bit worried, because after a ten day auction (99 cents starting bid) I only had a couple of dozen views, no followers and zero bids.

I know I can improve a couple of things: the tats and the sculpting on the lower arms. But what else can be improved?

Recipe:

ROC Storm Shadow: body
ROC Storm Shadow: head (sculpted hair)

Saga Geonosian Warrior: horns (on the arms)
DCIH Hawkman: wings

(For reference shots, just google "Devil Jin" or something).

I gotta say this is a really impressive figure and I'm shocked you didn't get a bigger response than that. As for e-bay though, don't feel bad I've had some similar issues lately I think it boils down to timing. Next time you list him it might go for a Hundred or more.

As far as improvements go this is just being nitpicky because really theres not a lot more you can do. But you might try redoing the tats on his chest with a very small point architectural pen. Might help you get a smoother look.

You could try some different paint apps on his lower arms, like do a very thin wash of a darker red to bring out the details of the sculpt.

I LOVE the paint apps on his pants, superb job and the wings are really jaw dropping. Dunno what you used but it looks awesome. All in all you have a very good looking figure here and eventually you will find someone who really wants him.

It's too bad that it didn't get a lot of comments. This one is a great custom. The only thing that I see could be better are the tats. Maybe since it made of Joe parts, you can add some accessories.

I would also maybe say try doing some light drybrushing on the wings to bring the details out some more. It looks like you did some, but maybe with a few more rounds, each time with a lighter shade, it will bring the details out more :)

Everyone else pretty much covered it, re-do the tats and a little grey drybrush on the wings and hair to make it pop. Great custom though!

Thanks guys, that's the kind of input we're all looking for. Like I said, the tats do have to be redone and a dark red wash for the gauntlets is a good call!

Actually, I painted the tats with a very fine brush, but foolishly took a .5mm black marker to finish them

Devil Jin doesn't have many accessories, except for the lightning coming from his gauntlets.

I know. Maybe if you made accessories that referenced the other Tekken characters. They could be his trophies. But the figure itself is fine. Just clean up tats and drybrush wings.

I voted for something that looks very similar to that, if not that very piece in a contest...incredible piece! Had I checked the board or eBay, I would have bid on it...but that was when I was employed.

Eyebrows and tats would be my only issues, maybe a Micron Pen instead of ultra thin paint brush. But Micron Pen takes nearly forever to dry in most cases.

That being said, I would have definitely bid on it if I knew it was up!

I like the accessories and paint aps, like the flame on the leg.

What stands out the most to me for improvement is the fleshtones on the body. I think if you started with a darker fleshtone and then drybrushed the paint you have on there now would help bring out the muscle definition on the figure.

If you could make the design of the tats on the computer, I would say to use water slide decals instead of trying to paint them on. I also agree that dome drybrushing on the hair and wings will work wonders. Nice job overall though.
