This was my last commission and was really proud of it because it was the first time in long time I worked on a huge figure like this and only got 3 comments. Be brutal and honest.:D

Ok, I love it, My only problem is that the colors seem flat and bland. At least from the pics. It also looks like there is not a lot of detail picked out. I was suggest doing some washes to bring out the molded detail. or show some close-up pics if it is. And expand the color pallet, there only seems to be 4ish colors. But I see what you were trying to do, and it is executed well,It just doesn't seem to pop is all.

Guess I'll get the ball rolling. First, I Love the concept. A transforming planet cybertron is really a great idea. Second from what I can tell the colors look really good.

Drawback: The photos you have posted here are not very detailed I'm only getting a blurry version. So its hard for me to make out the detail. What I can see though looks really good looks like there are some great detail work going on in there.

Suggestions: Better, more clear, up close photos. Also I know this is a pain in the arse but a figure this big really deserves at least a few LEDs/Lights somewhere. Would also like to see what kind of an arsenal a planet size robot would use. I do see the arm mounted weapons and such but he could use some hand held or other mounted weapons I think.

Pros: The color scheme you went with works great and is what you expect a huge planet sized transformer to look like.

Cons: While the color scheme looks good, it still feels a bit bland. Think of the figure on a planetary level. A planet would have millions of little lights and activities. That should be reflected in the color scheme and paint application. Some bright reds, blues, etc would help this fucker pop. Also, darken the deep recesses and lighten the raised sections a bit more.

THAT's what I'm talking about! I hear the bland comments. I was thinking Cybertron as a near dead planet so I didn't add bright lights. Darkening of the recesses? I guess I would use a wash for that. (I've never done that. I think I need to see a tutorial on how to do that)

I guess I still need to work on my taking of pictures. Sometimes, I get some good shots and others, not so.

Now I have to go cry, you meanies.

i like the concept...

2 suggestions:

more damage to planet mode... i find it funny how his bot mode is effed up and his planet mode is pristine... hahah

in bot mode. he needs more color in his lower half... his top is nice to look at but when you check out his legs, its like you got lazy and didnt want to spruce it up... i'm not saying thats what happened of course...

I got lazy. :)

Just kidding. There are some slight scratches in planet mode and then some gashes up on the towers like if Unircron attacked and then he transformed immediately. Lower half was kind of tricky because it's mostly planet mode that is viewed. If you're talking about the guns, I like black guns.

I would also say that the planet mode needs more damage and it also needs to stand out a bit more. I had to look closely at the pics to make out what was damaged. I would also have more color in the Robot mode especially in the uper half. Over all it still looks nice.

If that was your concept I think you may have missed the mark with a shiny, albeit neutral looking planet mode. Think of an organic planet who's life cycle has ended (be it from it's population eg: war, pollution, or even cosmic disaster eg: giant meteor). and incorporate those ideas into the paint job. This to me would have been the perfect opportunity to research and try the various rusting techniques out there, and really single out parts of the mold that could be dirtied up like as if they were industrialized areas that depleted their resources.

Now on the plus side, I actually do like the bot mode. I see a pretty lifeless (or at least dying) Primus. His spark is fading, and I think it is reflected in the bot mode paint. Poses that reflect his degradation might have aided the photo shoot as well.

D'OH! You're right about that. Although I slightly scratched the planet mode, I did want a cleaner planet mode than a bot mode and make the bot mode more aged and damaged. Damaged because he's fighting Unicron and aged because I always had the impression in the G1 cartoon that every time they would go under the planet, it seemed old, ancient, and abandoned. To me the bot parts are what makes the inner planet so I made them aged.

Whew! Man, I'm really liking the comments I'm getting. Even though it's just one custom, I'm starting to see a pattern with my style. Thanks guys.

As some have stated the pics are a bit blurry and hard to see all the massive details the figures holds.

And for the Primus being dead I would say you got the just of it right with the neutral tones and lowered coloring. But I feel you could have accented them even more by using more variety of shades and maybe shadowing effects.

And maybe all of that is already there just can't see them due to the blurry pics, which I share your anguish with as my camera is a family camera and the settings are always being changed. :p

With such a large figure, you could get some more close-ups of all of the detail, there's tons of it on this guy. From the distance these were taken from, its hard to see any highlights/lowlights in the silver planet areas, but it appears there could be a little more. You've definitely got the talent to bring those out, maybe go a bit lighter (keep it darker) on the drybrushing in the lower recessed areas for more contrast. Basically, the color combo was spot on, he just needs more definition.

I'm not a hardcore TF fan and don't know much about them so I'm taking this in a perspective of a custom collector... I certainly agree that the planet mode looks too bland...

Did you drybrush the black portions of the custom to give more depth ? A "glowing" led in the middle of the chest might make this one shine more if you're gonna make him slowly fading and dying away or sorts...

With that said i am pretty satisfied with the bot mode, although the pics are blurry i can still see much more detailing on the custom and i am liking the colors i see...

I somehow think that the pictures doesn't do justice to all the work you've done... I have seen the VIDEOs of your customs and they do look so much better compared to the pictures i see here... I really suggest you should go sort out on the photo taking part, they are the next important thing to translate what you really did to the custom/figure, especially if you're putting these photos on ebay... :D

So bland and blurry pics. I think if I have a huge project, I'll post some WIP's as I finish up. I feel I can do the first 90% but it's the last 10% that always leaves me unsure. And I think that's when all of your input can help me.

As for pics, I guess it's just trying to figure out that camera and try some close ups. Again, thanks!
