Just finished up this repaint and adding a custom base with green LED to this Ghost in the Shell toy. This was my first attempt at painting flesh...AND IT SHOWS. I had a hard time painting something that wasn't weathered metal. Gotta give alot of credit to the Sabrina_Ng's (http://procustomizers.com/member.php?u=7) out there who do the very new looking and awesome paint jobs...it isnt easy by ANY MEANS!! anyways tell me what you guys think, and any tips on painting stuff like flesh would be greatly appreciated. Thanx guys!

I agree, painting skin tones isn't my strong suit either. Good attempt, though, although looking at her face it seems the paint wasn't thin enough?

The suit and base look very good, that has to be said, sir!

Not bad for trying to pant flesh. I agree that it looks a bit thick. Otherwise she looks great. I love Ghost in the Shell

Fantastic piece! The overall design is and application is great!

The flesh tone looks even, just needs some slightly darker and lighter shades to bring out the detail. A lot of customizers will start with something like sienna as a base coat, then put down a coat of a color like parchment, then finish off with a couple coats skin tone (all dry brushing). I usually dry brush a coat or two of skin tone, then actually mix a wash of burnt umber with sienna and apply liberally to a figure, wiping away the excess. Once dry I then dry brush over it again very lightly with skin tone.

Hope that helps.

Love what you did with the base! Care to share what was used under the original base?

Thanx! The base i found at michaels crafts. It was something you would put on top of a wedding cake to put the bride and groom figure on top of. i found it on clearance, so i bought it repainted it from the original white, replaced the white LEDs with green ones and that was about it.

Looks great. I haven't painted skin. Well, at least ones that aren't HULK. Seems like it would a challenge. The base is awesome.
