I got such a huge response to my first Golobulus (http://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-joe-customs/43114-ive-created-monster-rather-dr-mindbender-has.html) that I knew I wanted to go back and do another one. I was contacted by several people that asked me to make one for them. But I'm the kind of person that doesn't particularly like to create the same figure multiple times, so I turned them all down - except for one. He wanted a more traditional take on Golobulus, to look more like the vintage version of the figure.
Hopefully this take on ol 'Lobby is what he was looking for... I haven't heard back from him regarding it, so I hope he liked it.

Very nicely done, but don't you hate when a customer never gets back to you? It's like the whole transaction is not completed.

You don't commission Dave to make you a damn fine custom and not give praise!
Awesome job, Dave, cool to see you've found some spare time to customize again. Your Golobulus v1 is already a favourite of mine, a truely original wicked custom, but v2 here is equally impressive. You've given him a real 20+ years' worth of overhauling, that's for sure!
Great work on the paint apps, but even more so on the assembly. Especially the left arm merging with his human shoulder. Splendid!
(Hey, we even have a fishy chick for him to play with: :mermaid: )

I had him back in the day, he might still be in a box somewhere. Anyhow this is top notch he can actually stand and command now!

Ahhhh my favorite GI JOE villain. You killed it on this one SWGK. I think it was ingenious using parts Grendel's Mother for the snake halves of the body.
Makes me want to go and watch to GI JOE if I still had a vhs player.:(

Come on now, you know it's not like that! He asked me not to post any pics anywhere until he got the package so he could see it for the first time when he opened the box... he got it last week but didn't contact me to let me know what he thought.

Awesome! Nice use of the Beowulf figure!!!!
I knew it!
Very nice work btw!!
Have you ever made a Nemesis Enforcer?
I've always been really tempted to make one, just haven't had the time yet, he was my favorite from the movie characters

Thanks guys (and gals)! Forgot to post the recipe:
Head/Torso: Tri-Gate Creations
Human arm: Dreadnok Buzzer
Mutant arm: Top half Dreadnok Buzzer, lower half McF Grendel's Mother (Beowulf)
Snake body: McF Grendel's Mother (Beowulf)
Belt: Nemesis Enforcer
I used the armored shoulder and the upper part of the forearm from Buzzer for the mutant hand, and cut the lower half of the arm from Grendel's Mother and glued it in place. I then took a thin piece of Fixit sculpt and applied in between to bridge the gap. Took the other arm from the Grendel's Mother figure and pressed it into the Fixit before it had cured to give it the same texture as the mutant arm.
Painted using Reaper Master Series and Freak Flex paints.
That is just awesome work right there. I'm curious about these Freak Flex paints. I already use Reaper for my acrylics along with Vallejo and Cell Vinyl paints but you can never have enough. What can you say about them?

I use Reaper Master Series for 99% of my paint work. IMO there is no better paint out there for figures like this. Mix in a little water and you're good to go.
The Freak Flex line, however, is another animal entirely. It's basically airbrush paint, so it's super super thin. But that's also a good thing, since you really can't screw it up when you apply it, it goes on super smooth. It just takes 8 coats to finish up, lol. But so far I've gotten some great results from it. It's actually made by Badger, just has it's own "sub-line" that is geared towards vinyl kit makers that do horror kits, with names like "Autopsy Orange" and "Black Lagoon Green" and what not. But I like them. I use them sparingly because they are so thin, but on the rare occasions that I use my airbrush they are right there for me.
I would recommend them if you need some really thin acrylic paint or something to use with an airbrush.

Thats actually what I wanted to hear. Thanks man. :D An again, very awesome Golobulus.
