Hey All,

Quick question,

Painted some Fusion Yellow, First Coat looked good, waited appropriate time according to instructions and recoated. This coat cracked and looked generally not good.

So what I did is sanded what I could off and I am going to recoat.

My question is, how long should I wait after sanding fusion to recoat and should I apply a Primer before painting?

Thanks

the climate/temp is really going to effect spray cans (and paint in general) this could be why you had a problem. Although it looks and feels dry, it most likely isn't. Fusion doesn't really "bond" until a few days after sprayed. "Dry" and "cured" are 2 very different paint stages. You're best waiting 4+ days to sand that. Keep it in a dry warm place also.

Ya I am in Canada, where its a balmy negative 15 with a wind chill of negative 25!

Thanks for the advice, I will do that.

for sure. out here in Jersey, I'm snowed it (literally on the shop windows sealing me in) it's really taking a toll on all my paint dry/cure times this week.

Any ideas on what could help with others in same situations? I was thinking space heater.

Yeah I get those cracks too. I just incorporate them into my customs. I don't want them but if it happens I just make it look rusty.

The only Fusion I use is the Ultra-Flat Black Camouflage, and I only use that as a base coat. I think Rustoleum makes a similar product that comes in clear. It just works as a primer. But like F_R said, paint hates the cold! I've been doing my best to work around this on a custom X-Box controller for my brother for Christmas.
