thought this was one of MIke's, but it's one that someone else built. he did a great job mimicking Mikey's Devy.

I'm surprised how well the shoulders look in proportion, using the unicron joints.

Good looking custom tho. for a copy

yeah, saw this too. I like it. Sometime's I'm tempted to buy these, then add some more details, fix them up and resell them as my own. Is that bad? lol....

lol, nah, i dont think so. for no reserve auctions. the seller wants a little bit for this one.

did u see that G1/classics Ultra Magnus? he took uuser's design and perfected it. I'm really impressed with that custom.

My unfinished classics/g1 magnus is sitting right here to my left. I wish he was finished and looked as good as that one on ebay, lol.

Yeah, that Magnus is pretty sweet. Only complaint is that I wish it had a different head (never really a fan of the G1 head), other than that...I may keep an eye on it, lol.

:banghead: I can't believe there are people in this world that still think F_R designed this Devastator.

Why can't they be honest and say "This is my custom Devastator based on Ptitvite's design and I am hoping to sell it for as much as Frenzy_Rumble did. Hence the ridiculously high starting bid".

Yes. I fact, it's one of the worst things I've ever read.

Well, I think it goes with out saying Frenzy_Rumble brought the design to the masses

I heard some where that Ptitvite has a bounty out on his hands:beatup:

yeah, it's crazy. and a shame. There's probably been about 50 or more Devastators on ebay since the one I originally put on there. Ptitvite's devastator is one of the best formulas/ideas ever, And TBH, the custom itself is what personally inspired me to build one. I had no intention of even selling it while building it. Back in those days, I worked like 60-70 hours a week for a company, got steady paychecks...I built it cause I was inspired by it. Once I posted WIP pictures on my blogger site, I was flooded with inquiries and people interested in buying it. About the time it was nearing completion, the company (which my fiance worked for as well) took a 30% pay cut, and money got a little tight. So I decided to throw him up on Ebay. Anyone knowing of or living in San Diego would know the cost of living there is quite high. I was hoping the auction would cover the costs and possible a few extra bucks.

Anyway, it was a successful auction, unfortunately so successful that we've seen so many others since it's auction - and (like you said) many of them are auctioned with intentions of making high profits. Another way to look at it is - I took a great idea and custom and introduced it to a lot more people. Perhaps without my rendition, only the handful of customizers on the few boards Ptitvite posted on would know of this custom. I also took the liberty of changing several parts of it. When I built mine, Ptitvite's was still a work in progress - I went off 2 small progress shots from another board.

I get tempted to buy these which sell for $200 or so...but only for parts. I still commission these Devastators privately, and it's a lot of work hunting down the same parts/elements used when building one. I can spend $300-$400 and a solid week on the parts alone.

I wonder that too. My first Shockblast/Shockwave was purchased on ebay with some parts already modded. I then did a shoulder swap and cleaned up the some parts and repainted. I'll give the guy credit for the first mod but I did the rest. Is it okay to sell that?

But I also have another one. Someone gave me a repainted Animated Blackarachnia. When I got it, I was like "I can do better". So I repainted it again kind of covering up his paints with mine but still the same colors. It looks better. Can I sell that?

I wonder if MY customs that I've sold have been repainted...hmmmm.

I did see one of my customs being auctioned off again on ebay.

I agree

there always be level of improvement in any custom. Even I being tempted to buy custom at fair price to rework them and fix up. I did have client that send me his custom toy from someone else and repaint it. Hmmmp. I wonder.... I will leave at that.
