I was thinking about this not to long at ago. We might all run to fail project once or couple time in the past. Personally they go to discard junk bind I was doing a ROTF MIRRAGE out of Sideswipe ROTF. It looks great when started but I try few things and next thing it was not what I wanted. He got but in the junk bind. What turn out as failed gave me other idea what not to do in the future.

I don't know if this counts, but I started panel-lining a Jetfire over a year ago. Before ROTF came out I was going to finish that project off but then I LOST one of those sliding covers for his shoulder cannons.

Hahah! Lots! I usually keep them for spare parts? That's really cool and useful to have. Many times I would go like, Phew! Thanks goodness I didn't throw that XXX away.

I have one that I just can't finish painting. It's animated Prowl. Painted him red, looks cool but now I have no where to go with him. Kind of want to either sell him as unfinished or even give him to some one that may want to finish him. I wont say what I wanted him to be at first.

I got a Classics Bludgeon almost ready for paint apps but hit, I guess you would call, a writers block on what to do with the armor for him.

Guess the project isnt a fail rather than a waiting game.

I did a right arm rebuild for Animated Leader Bulkhead, I managed to get the one I wanted (Two grabby arms, no saw blade), but wasn't able to get the other (Two saw blades) to work, and since I wanted to sell that to get back what I spent for the grabby arm, I'd call that a fail. Especially since I'm not savy enough to know how to break it down for what parts.

I started a Marvel Legends Wikus figure but was struggling for a head... the one I chose was from a Buffy figure and ended up looking like Allen Ruck from "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" with a mustache...

My first and most recent Mod Failure was with ROTF Starscream. I opened up his forearms, created an additional wrist joint so that his hands can fold up against his forearms.

I was 100% successful in creating the extra wrist joints, with the intention of being able to hide his hands in his alt mode.

I did not, however check to see if there was enough clearance for his hands to fit in between the jet thrusters and his forearms. There isn't.

The best place to do this would be to create a folding joint in SS's palms. It was a fun mod though...

Classics Apeface almost became a fail project Last night .

But I managed to fix it and give him his trademark flat top glasses head in ape form. :D

I keep trying to make Space Marines from the Warhammer universe in different scales but haven't succeeded yet. They're just too big.

SPESS MAREHNS WE HAVE FAILED THE EMPRAH

anyways i've had my share of failed projects
back when i didn't know about how enamel paints were no good i screwed up on a space nazi, random mounty guy, and a deadpool
recently i was making a marvel universe styled iron lantern and tried to take the figure apart since its torso joints didn't want to work with me, and now the figure is barely recognizable

Awe, I would love to see this! I have been pondering the idea of using a revoltech type body to do it.

To many failed projects to count, some without me ever starting them. >_<

So far, my only real fail was ROTF Mudflap. I had painted him copper, but it seemed dull. So I tried to polish it with a Dremmel polishing wheel. Mudflap melted. :(

i made this 1/6th scale chainmail for my Sideshow Boromir figure.
i used an ear pick in coiling the metal wire to make the rings. unfortunately, my brother lost the ear pick and i could no longer find any material that can make rings of the same size so... yeah. fail.

Found a pic. You can see where the hood melted. At the point I took the picture, I had scavenged parts.

Nope, acrylic paint :(. Tamiya XF-1 (Acrylic flat black) thinned with Tamiya X-20A to be exact . Unless they had stuck the wrong label on the bottle, this shouldn't be happening eh ?

No. Well, wait. Is it hard plastic or soft? Because I painted Sideswipe's mirrors with Tamiya, and they stayed a bit tacky, so I just leave them alone.

@Hotwire
The plastic is much harder than the one on Sideswipe's side mirrors and the hardness/softness of it (for lack of a better word) can be compared to any 6 inch figures .
Anyway, I had since repainted it and I'm going to seal it with nail varnish . Not a very good method but at least it's going to work somehow .

My first commission (of sorts) was ruined by glosscoating. I was handbrushing it onto an ROTF Leader Prime, only to discover that Glosscote doubles as a paint remover. Ruined the flames on one of his arms. Had to buy a second Prime for the replacement arm (fortunately I found one on sale for $40).

Now I've got another Leader Prime without flames, which I'm not entirely sure what I should do with him.

Money's kinda tight right now, so I think I should custom him up and sell him. I'm thinking a metallic flake G1 colourscheme. I can at least do that without the flames.

Oh yes, while I'm at it: my ROTF Kup. I drybrushed him his robot bits, then applied a crappy coating of flat white, then applied a caot of light blue above that. "Bleah" doesn't even begin to cover it.

I used an ROTF Ironhide. It was just a horrible coating.

I had planned on him not having a left forarm. Wanted to show he had seen some serious action, and having him be a war amputee seemed like the quickest way.

But of course. Just because he sucks now doesn't mean I can't fix him. It's just I'd rather be working on things a bit more profitable at the moment.

Was making him as a "Cast of '86" set I planned on putting on ebay.

Got a crapper Barbie VW Bug for my daughter at Goodwill, had some fading, and I was going to paint it pink with a black racing stripe. Let's just say the black, the interiors and the detailing came out great, but the pink came out awful, because I left it outside to dry, and it's butt ass freezing cold here. Some of the pink turned out terrible. She loves it though, but I will never, eeeeeeevvver paint outside again.
