search for "lots" on ebay, sorted by "ending soonest" up top. Check on it from time to time, you'll get lucky...

I second that. Or look on tfw in the b/s/t thread and you can usually find some awesome deals. I just scored a leader rotf optimus prime with a dotm voyager megatron, both mint and complete for $40 shipped.

I've come up good on a couple of things before...

Car boot sales - people selling stuff out of their car boots in a field/car park somewhere. I guess the US equivalent would be yard sales or tag sales? Picked up a few 10p/15c transformers and a Vader Death Star for £1. Bargains to be had, but it's hit and miss...

Search for lots on ebay, as FR mentioned, but my twist on it is to sort the listing by distance so you can pick things up locally and avoid shipping. I've just lucked out on a big lot of about 15 transformers, including TFTM leader Megs & OP, for just £20 ($30), mainly because it was collection-only and they're only 2 miles away. I could probably make the money back just by selling off Megatron.

Yard sales and flea markets are great places for finding fodder.
