I'm still waiting for GameFly to ship it to me, but was curious if anyone here has played it? If so, just how much better than the first one is it? I found the first to be rather repetitive, and I'm hoping they fixed that.

At first it feel just like the first one but once you get into the story and become the Assassin it is wayy better than the first one. No more repetitive listen to conversation from a bench 40+ times.
It is a pretty open world and lets you pick what to do in what order almost unless it is one of the more important parts of the story that is, then they kinda straight line it for you.
But besides killing your target by any means each mission has been different. They did a lot to improve this game.
And I have been playing for 11+ hours and I still have a lot to do. Like gets items and upgrading Ezio's skill and weapons. And I have never gotten mad or frustrated with a part yet. It has been completely fun the entire time.

It had a slow start but soon enough it was obvious that this one is WAY better than the first one. Lots of mission variety, changes in locale often, plenty pf weapons, armor, and more to buy, and a deeper story. I loved the first one but even those who didn't will enjoy this one.
The only down side is that the controls, while allowing you to do everything perfectly, can get confusing due to holding down buttons while pressing others for certain actions.
Infamous had perfect jumping platforming controls with much less complication.
