View Full Version : Safely removing enamels from rubber parts?

So I painted the three rubbery parts on a Leader Megatron flat black, hoping they wouldn't be sticky. They're sticky.

Whoops.

Any suggestions on how to remove the paint without damaging the plastic? I'm thinking of using my paint thinner and a q-tip, but I don't know if this is in that safe zone between removing paint and removing plastic.

So you know, my paint thinner removes enamel paints well enough, but doesn't even come close to removing factory applied paints.

Thanks in advance you guys.

Oven cleaner should work fine without messing up the rubber, let it soak on there for a bit and see if it works

The closest thing we have resemling oven cleaner is windex.

But... I already took the chance with the paint thinner yesterday before you replied.

Just light strokes with my drybrushing brush and wiping with some toilet paper, turned out fine. I haven't gotten out all the tiny nooks and crannies (fortunately only one piece has those at all) and it looks a bit washed, but at least I know it works.

It's Testors brand paint thinner if you were wondering.
