Anyone playing this? It got great reviews but its far from the best Bioware game I've played. Deepest character interaction stuff and conversation cause/effect stuff I've seen but the game feels slow and dated.
I'm hating how not doing something in the right order or saying the wrong thing can make you miss getting a party member or worse. That's been the case in these type games before but it can almost ruin the game in this one.

I'm not a gamer but by chance I did just see a 4 minute video on youtube. WOW! Looks like an incredible game.

Is this game a RPG?
I want to play it, great company behind it and looks like fun. Definitely a big RPG type game, think Mass Effect but without the space theme.

I don't know mass effect. Mainly games like Transformers RotF, Call of Duty, Halo. Role Playing Games like final fantasy, i tihnk they just suck.

Yeah it's an RPG from the guys that did Star Wars KOTR, Jade Empire, Neverwinter Knights, and Mass Effect. Tons of deep conversation and character development. Everything can go a different way depending on what you say and do like the other games by Bioware.
It is good but not as good as most of their other games. Slow clumsy fighting and its too easy to miss getting party members and sometimes lose one over something you say. The game often auto saves right when you make a bad choice too.

best
game
ever
I got this tonight, can't stop playing - fuck, just played 4 hours straight LOL! so epic, the story and characters are as awesome as FF7. The combat system and character attribute system is epic.

What class are you playing? I used a 2 handed weapon warrior and he's slower than I hoped for. I wish I'd made a dual wield rogue.
I'm at the very end and I do like the story and the choices you can make. Just liked the graphics and battle systems better on every other Bioware game ever.
Be sure to keep a few different save files because its easy to screw something up that affects the entire game, and the game is LONG. I'm at over 60 hours.

I'm a sword and shield warrior, only way to go in RPGs!!!
Thanks for the tip about the saves.
I've only got to the part where I had to save the little possessed boy (Conner)

Yeah Alistar is a sword and shield warrior and by the end he was great.
I'm going to have to say, having beat the game, it was really good. I love how deep they went with different situations, stories, and endings based on what you say and do. I was at about 70 hours when I finished it and I may play through again as a mage or rogue after I finish CoD MW2.

I had the same problem man. He was a damage dealing tank by the end though.
Hey let me know how the end goes for you F/R. There are so many possibilities I'd be very interested in hearing how you do it and telling how I did.

currently, I did the castle thing with alm needing the ashes to get well. I am unsure where to go next, I was told to go to Rederim (sp?) up at the top NE corner of the map, got there and continue to get my ass kicked by the knight who wants to duel in the alley. I am playing on hard though...might have to take that down to normal, or stock up on potions if I wanna beat him.
I made the mistake of trying to recruit the elve's help, got to the werewolve's castle and get my ass handed to me by orange con monsters (like the boss and the reverent) I think I need to gain some levels somehow. I got the elf assasin on my team now also, I swapped out the girl (bard or rogue, unsure) for him, he's doing good DPS for my team.

I don't even want to think about the hours I've lost to this game.

It's gotten more interesting. I've been given several scenarios where I am left w/ choices. I loved the werewolve part, I am currently on the mountain top getting the ashes.

Wow you are playing it on hard? I had some really frustrating parts just playing through on normal.
I remember that guy in Denerim that wants to fight. I blew him off but at the end of the Denerim part he came back to fight me. He died.
I stuck with Lilianna for her ranged dps and unlocking chests. Ended up making whoopie with her. The other rogue guy is great too but I didn't trust him or like his character enough to use him much.
Your goal is to recruit all of the armies so you can do things in whatever order you wnat. Go for the dwarves first, or Redcliff, or mages tower, or elves. If something is too tough you can always leave and come back to it later.

Finally beat it. I cheesed a bit on the arch demon, used the catapults from a distance (having only 1 person alive in my party actually made it easier) Fun ass game, I hope they make a sequel...

I did the same thing. I think it bugged or something because the dragon couldn't do anything but get hit until it was time to finish him.

he kicked the crap out of us while in melee range. I went through about 30 potions...once he went mobile and off to another area, other dark spawn came and killed the rest of my group. it was at that time, I thought running away would be a good idea, came across a catapult and it auto-aimed at the arch demon. Finished off the dark spawn and range attacked the dragon until he died.
I chose Alistar to be king, and Morrigan to bear my child (keeping me safe from death when killing the arch demon) I killed morgain after the duel.

Wow. I convinced Alistar and the queen to marry, but when it came time for one of us to duel Logain I chose Alistar. It only seemed right for him to prove himself against the corrupt warrior leader before becoming king.
I didn't know he would KILL Logain. Because of that the queen would not marry Alistar and swore to continue fighting for the crown. The counsel condemned her to death but Alistar stopped them and had her locked in the tower. She was very thankful for his mercy.
I turned down Morrigan's offer and she left us.
When the arch demon was defeated Alistar pleaded with me to let him kill it because he wanted to be a hero and not king. I let him and the queen was released to rule. She granted me anything I wanted and built a statue of both her dumb father and Alistar. I had her free the elves and lived happily with Lilianna as leader of the elves.
