Evil Dead Trilogy on the big screen!

Went to a showing of all three "Evil Dead" flicks last night. Had a fucking incredible time. The theatre owner went all out. He got the original 35mm film, no "pussy digital projection" (his words.) He also had a ton of old trailers that he ran as bumpers between each movie. There was "Alien," "Nightbreed," all of the trailers for the Evil Dead flicks (Evil Dead, Evil Dead 2: Dead by Dawn, and Army of Darkness.) The theatre isn't exactly in the best shape, but seeing all three movies for $8, and giant pops for $3, was freakin amazing!

The wierd thing was, I felt that the cheesy, low budget effects from the first 2 films were much more effective than the "big budget" effects from AOD. My buddies and I were riffing on the first 2 movies the entire time (to ourselves, not the obnoxious, yell at the screen kind of riffing!) "Army" kind of makes fun of itself. I haven't laughed that hard in a long time!

Oh, man!! I wish they'd do something like that around here. The original 35mm print must have been great to look at as well, it really fits with movies of that nature.
