I don't know what it is, but it looks like the recess in the lower legs are shaped like the forearms would go in there.

I actually thought it looked like his feet would rotate then fit into the slot on the front of his legs......

Well, I kinda see a ball joint at the ankle, which would make that impossible. I do imagine they'd fold down and then something else goes into the fronts. Though, looking at the shape inside the lower leg and the shape on top of the feet, they look like they fit up in there like you suggest. I'm sick of guessing though, I hope we aren't gonna have to wait several months to see an alt mode
