Optimus Prime G1 Alternator

Goal- Give Alternators Prime some life with cheesy 80's style truck decals that make the robot look more G1, and make him a gun worthy of the name Optimus Prime.

If the pattern on the hood is too obviously an image similar to Optimus' chest, then lets say it is a Prime fan's custom truck!

The gun took 3 days of layering and shaping sculpt over a ROTF deluxe Brawl's tank cannon so the part would fit onto Optimus' stupid little pistol. Then I sanded it, added an end piece for extra bigness, and added parts from a ROTF Fallen to the sides to cover the sculpt before painting.

I like the idea. The decals in alt mode really throw it off though.

Bot mode looks cool. I wasn't sure what the decals were supposed to be in truck mode, though. I would say, maybe more decals down the sides of the truck, and none on the roof.

Yeah when I was adding truck decals to try and take from the obvious Prime design on the hood, I stopped here to avoid making it any more tacky.
Like I said the plan was to add cheese ball truck mode decals that would make the bot mode look more G1. Basically taking from the great looking mode to help out the dumb mode.
The decals on the cab top will stay for sure because they break up the hood design from a front and top front view. I may add blue off shaped squares to the doors though... Maybe. I don't want to make it any more tacky than it has to be.

Remember how designs on cars (especially toys) were cheesy and made no sense in the 80s? Think purple grid on just the hood and top of an otherwise cool car or yellow, orange, and blue squares on the sides of a black truck. That's how I hoped this would come across.

Yep. This toy was in my fodder box for months in case I needed the head or hands. I finally decided to do this instead.
