Okay, one of the reasons I haven't been able to complete more custom figures, is because I devoted much of my time on this diorama. It was my entry for the ISY.net tribute to Karen Traviss contest. What we had to do, was make a diorama of a scene of one of the four Republic Commando novels. I'm a huge fan of those books and there are many excellent events to immortalize in customized form.
What I really like about the novels, is how Karen explores the human in the clone. They're not just copies of Jango, bred for the sole purpose of fighting and dying for the Republic. They're just as human as any other, perhaps even more so. Karen envisions the hardship of the training regime on Kamino really well and how that effected the beloved characters.
The capture of Ko Sai in True Colors (pages 285 and 286) was a highlight for me and I immediately picked that event to make a diorama of.
Key characters are Kal Skirata, Mereel and Ko Sai of course. She was hiding in some underwater lab, guarded by Mandalorian bodyguards. My diorama shows Kal and Mereel in her office, Mereel revealing himself to a shocked Ko Sai.
Pictures of Kal Skirata and what his armour looks like are abound, however less so of his boys. I asked around a bit and some guys felt green was a pretty good choice of colour for Mereel's armour. Ko Sai was easy to make of a Lama Su (or Taun We?) figure. I even got her to sit her aiwha shebs down :D
Anyway, enough talk, here are the pics:

Wow, great work Remco! I'm not allowed over at the ISY site, so I haven't seen this one yet... but that came out great! What did you make the machinery on the left hand side out of? Looks like some of those giant oversized projectile launchers that Hasbro loves to include with their GI Joe and SW figures lately... funny because I'm doing something very similar with mine :D
I love all the little details like the aforementioned machinery and the view out the window in the background. Great job! I don't know who won first place but it seems like you got rooked buddy.

You're not allowed there? What did you do this time, Dave, hmmmmmm...?
Yeah, the machinery is all made of those insane bazookas. Other than this I really can't see how they can be of any use. Well, except for some nifty Transformers' blasters :D
I'm not sure what "rooked" means. You mean a rookie beat me? Anyway, entry #2 won 1st prize and that one and mine were the only one to get some real votes.
I expressed my...... disappointment in the overall level of entries, some of which hardly met the conditions of the contest. I was just being honest, and thankfully everyone was very mature about it.
I was almost afraid my opinion would cause another...... Sandgate

"Rooked" is another way of saying cheated. Like I said, I don't know what dio won the 1st place prize, but it had to be pretty damn awesome to have beat this.
As far as why I'm not allowed there, it's simple. The creators of the site were all staffers at ST and pulled some really sneaky, not-so-cool shit... mostly during the "Sandgate" affair that you refer to, LOL! Anyway, when the snuck off to make their own site, and started coming back and recruiting stealing the members at ST, I tried to open an account there and was immediately banned... simply because I was a staff member at ST.
man, seen alot of cool dios here lately! Makes me want to attempt a Joe one. This is great Incom, always like seeing those useless oversized 'zookas put to a better use than firing mini plastic penis's!
What Surface did you start with?

Incom,
I posted a comment about your mando's over at ISY. Now onto the diorama...I don't recall ever seeing a finished product of yours, possibly because I'm always so wrapped up in what I'm doing. Anyhow, this is fantastic, as always you have produced a great custom piece. Your passion for making things always shows through and I always make a point of looking at any new post I see your name on.
As you may know, you are one of the reasons I got into Star Wars creations, and in my opinion you are one of the best customisers on the forums.

Ouch, I had no idea, buddy. Anyway, entry #2 won 1st prize, but hey, I'm cool with that. I won a bag full of casts by fellow ISY and Mousedroid member Clonehead :)

Thanks Heretic! And yeah, the floor does look tiled, which was what I was aiming for. But the floor is just a sheet of foamcore, with the tiles scored into that, using the end of a small brush. Props go to Daigo_Bah from Rebelscum, who showed this technique on one of his awesome Cloud City dioramas.

:D :p! You're right Jules, I'm not one to show that many finished projects, apart from a figure or two. Yes, my T/F dio is still in the works, as is my A-Wing and Speeder Bike chase :o But I'm glad you like it! And that last compliment, well, I'm speechless! Thanks, mate :D
